Training
and Capacity Building
LEAP provides strategic training and capacity building
support to the business community and local government in an effort to
create an enabling environment for multi-sectored approaches towards the
economic development of Region 10. Such support will not only improve
the economic skill base of the region, but will enhance the capacity of
the various stakeholders to sustain the job creation measures undertaken
by LEAP.
Target Groups
• Entrepreneurs requiring skills training in relation to new or
extended businesses.
• Employees requiring skills training.
• School leavers requiring skills training appropriate to employment.
• Adults requiring skills training appropriate to employment.
• Business and financial managers
• Local government organisations (The Town Council, the RDC, Chamber
of Commerce and Business Associations)
• Community Based Organisations
Elements of Training Input
• Needs assessment of organizational and agency capacity for economic
planning and management.
• Training to build capacity gaps.
• Sector specific training e.g. Manufacturing; Forestry; Tourism;
Agriculture
• Needs assessment of employable and entrepreneurial skills.
